We are technical staff of Dept. of Electrical Engineering at IIT Madras. We use technology to design indigenous low cost devices that address the needs of people with different abilities.

A manually driven wheelchair can strain the upper body of a user. Powered Wheel chairs are a costly option, and affordability becomes a constraint. Moreover, how many wheelchairs can we expect a person to own? They often need a motorized wheelchair, but many times are comfortable with a manual one. Our idea is to give them the choice: design a universal powered detachable device that will act as an add-on to a manual wheelchair. This device can be bought and placed in the offices of corporate houses, government agencies and multiplex shopping malls so that the disabled person can use it for navigation in the premises of the host institutions. We aim to provide safe and independent mobility for an individual in a wheelchair, in all terrains. The attach and navigate feature of this powered device greatly enhances the mobility of the differently abled individual.

Technology ideas, innovations and a lot of hard work.
